Carrera slot cars started out in Germany in the 1960s. They are now one of the leading brands in the slot car world. Along with slot cars generally they come a long way from the sets of the 1960s and 1970s.
Carrera slot car sets come in 5 ranges of slot cars that are suitable for the beginner right up to the more experienced racer.
For beginners there is the Carrera Go series of sets. There are in the 1:43 scale - the cars are about 2.5 inches long. These sets are for children over the age of 8. They include sets featuring Lightning McQueen, Mater, Finn McMissile, and Francesco Bernolli  etc from the Disney Cars movies, plus there are sets based on Mario Kart and Spongebob. Also included are Ferrari sets, Dune Buggy sets, Nascar sets etc. The emphasis is on fun and keeping the sets affordable.  A turbo booster on the hand controller gives the slot cars the extra acceleration the down the straights or through the loop the loop that some of the sets include.
For the more advanced racer over the age of 8 is the Carrera Evolution series. The cars are 1:32 scale and the track is 1:24 scale to give more room for drifting action.
Carrera slot cars also include 3 digital slot car ranges – the Carrera 143, Carrera 124 and the Carrera 132. So you can see they have got something for everyone.
